Ted founded Echols Law Group in 1995 as a client-centered practice helping clients find peace of mind.
During law school, Ted worked for the Gwinnett County Solicitor’s Office through the prosecutorial clinic and gained valuable experience as a litigator. After graduating from University of Georgia School of Law, he continued to hone his litigation skills in his practice. He soon recognized that in victory, many of his clients felt less than fully satisfied because litigation rarely solved their deeper relational conflicts. This observation led him to an emphasis on legal solutions that seek reconciliation and resolution. In addition, Ted became a Certified Christian Conciliator enabling him to assist others as a mediator.
Ted knows that while constructively resolving conflict is good, it is better to be proactive, working to minimize conflict with careful and thoughtful planning.
Ted enjoys serving families with estate planning, probate, and business development. He has crafted thousands of individualized estate plans that enable clients to bless their families, safeguard what they’ve worked hard for, and maintain control of their estates. Whether in business, probate or estate planning, he believes in promoting family harmony and long-term business success.
Long before law school, Ted started his working life selling peanuts at his grandfather’s auto auction at 8 years old. This opportunity proved to instill a life-long passion for hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. Since he founded Echols Law Group in 1995, he’s helped businesses large and small through each step of the business formation and operation process. As a small business owner himself, he understands the challenges and pitfalls of owning and operating a business and is ready to help clients overcome them.
In addition to providing traditional legal services, Ted serves a mediator assisting various organizations and individuals with alternative dispute resolution. He has taught peacemaking seminars locally and internationally.
Ted currently serves as Associate Judge in the City of McDonough and as a part-time Magistrate Judge. He has also served as Judge Pro Tem for Henry County State Court and as Chief Judge for the City of Stockbridge Municipal Court.
In his spare time, Ted loves to fish, paint, and spend time with his wife Misti and their four children.
